Universal Detection Technology awarded GSA contract

Company to provide agency with bioterrorism detection solutions

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, announced today that its products have been approved by GSA to be included on its Multiple Awards Schedule program to 2013.

Under this contract, federal, state, and local government agencies that have access to the GSA Schedule Contract program can contract directly with UDT for all of their detection needs. Universal Detection's products are listed on GSA Schedule GS-07F-0106V for equipment used in the detection of Biological weapons such as anthrax, ricin, botulinum, and plague.

According to Jacques Tizabi, President of Universal Detection Technology, "UNDT is planning an aggressive marketing campaign to promote its counter-bioterrorism initiatives to all relevant government agencies to ensure that all first responders are properly equipped in the event of a biological crisis."

To be an approved supplier under a GSA schedule, the vendor must go through an arduous application process. Negotiating fair and reasonable prices for the products or services to be delivered is the most important aspect of application process. The GSA schedule is one of the most simplified and widely accepted government contract vehicles available to procurement officers. GSA schedule is a five-year contract listing the prices the federal government has agreed to pay for a vendor's commercial products and services. The contract may be renewed for three five-year periods resulting in a 20-year contract if all renewals are executed.
