Garda supports Haitian earthquake relief effort

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA--(Marketwire - Feb. 23, 2010) - Garda World Security Corporation, one of the most trusted Cash Logistics, Physical Security and Global Risk Consulting firms in the world, announced today it has donated to World Concern, a non-profit humanitarian organization, logistics services and use of cargo aircraft from its fleet to deliver relief supplies to World Concern's staff of 100 people working in Haiti to assist in recovering from the recent earthquake.

World Concern has worked in Haiti for 31 years providing community development and other services including disaster response. In the aftermath of the earthquake on January 12, they have been assisting people find shelter in their own neighbourhoods in the belief that people recover faster in a familiar environment with the support of family, friends and neighbors.

"Thanks to Garda, we were able to bring our team 5,200 lbs of medical supplies, food, tools, temporary shelters for distribution sites, dusk masks and work gloves," says Susan Talbot of World Concern, "not to mention our organization's president, who went to encourage our traumatized Haitian staff and witness the efforts firsthand."

Garda is also matching contributions made by its Quebec employees to assist Haitian co-workers with relatives in Haiti and providing support and counselling to those affected by the disaster. Throughout the company, employees are raising funds and collecting donations of food, clothing and water to send to Haiti for the relief effort.
