Amano debuts new access control readers

Advanced multi-discipline readers designed for a wide variety of applications

Roseland, New Jersey – March 15, 2010 – The Time and Security Division of Amano Cincinnati, Inc. today announced the release of their new advanced Multi-Discipline Reader (MDR) for physical access control.

Amano’s newest 125 kHz Prox and ISO 14443 reader is a flexible, highly secure and stylish dual technology contactless smart card reader ideal for customers migrating from the Security Industry most popular 125 kHz Prox cards to highly secure 13.56 MHz ISO14443 contactless smart cards.

Designed for a wide variety of applications from entry level access control to secure ID management, the Multi-Discipline Reader family is completely flexible to meet most access control application challenges.

The MDR enables upgrade paths from existing proprietary legacy 125 kHz (low frequency) to open standards based 13.56 MHz (high frequency) technologies and/or interoperability among multiple card populations. Multi-Discipline Readers offer one of the broadest ranges of card compatibility in the industry including ISO 14443 MIFARE, DESFire, and SmartMX, ISO 15693 iClass and ISO 18092 Felica along with all HID, EM or Amano 125kHz Prox card formats providing an ideal, flexible solution for each project.

The Multi-Discipline Reader line is available without keypad (MDR), or with a 12-button keypad (MDK) allowing PIN-code entry adding an extra layer of protection for higher security installations. The MDR uses a modern sleek design Polycarbonate and 304 Stainless Steel housing fully potted to increase resistance against vandals, harsh weather and tampering; suitable for indoor and outdoor environments.

Each reader includes a tri-colored LED, a buzzer, scanner inhibit input and an optical tamper. The MDR/MDK is supplied with a 10 ft flying lead and supports multiple output formats including Wiegand 26 or 44-bit Protocol for wiring distances of up to 500 ft.
