The new Node 5A system is expected to make travel easier for customers by increasing screened baggage throughput. The new system is also expected to process up to 2,000 bags per hour with a four machine matrix and will be an extension of the current Node 5 system.
The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2009. The scope of the project includes the design, supply and installation of 11 high speed diverters, belt conveyors, catwalks and other hardware required for a complete operational system. Siemens will also provide 914m of baggage handling conveyor, which will feed four L3 explosive detection systems.
