ADT awarded $112M judgment in civil case

Mexican businessman had allegedly attempted to extort money from company

ADT was recently awarded a $112 million judgment by a Texas court stemming from a lawsuit it brought against a Mexican businessman and Dallas company, according to a story published by AmericanLawyer.com.

The case reportedly came about from a dispute ADT had with some of its authorized dealers in Mexico. When ADT ended its relationship with the dealers, some of them then hired Jesus Hernandez Alcocer and assigned equipment they owned to his affiliated company Alert 24 Security.

In the suit, ADT alleged that Alcocer and Alert 24 conspired to file criminal complaints against ADT officials and employees in an attempt to extort money from the company.
