NRF honors law enforcement, industry professionals

Organization recognizes achievements in loss prevention at 2010 LP Conference and Expo


The Ring of Excellence is a premier recognition program for loss prevention professionals whose achievements and outstanding leadership have significantly shaped the industry. Distinctive accomplishments include contributions of lasting value, notable leadership, development of original ideas and outstanding service to organizations serving the retail industry. Their contributions helped build the foundation upon which many retailers rely today.

This year, NRF is inducting James "Jim" Lee who is the President of Loss Prevention Magazine. Jim spent much of his loss prevention career at reputable retailers managing their LP departments as well as serving as a solutions provider in the areas of training, awareness and consulting for the retail loss prevention industry. Special Recognition

In addition to NRF's LP Awards, three other individuals received special recognition for their efforts fighting retail crime.
John Heavener, President of the Georgia Retailers Association, was recognized for his extraordinary efforts in getting the Georgia Smash and Grab Act passed and bringing attention to the growing problem Georgia retailers are facing.

Ray Schultz, Chief of Police for the Albuquerque Police Department, wasrecognized for his groundbreaking approach to tackling crime, which involves chasing thieves out of his jurisdiction, and the overwhelming positive results his Albuquerque Retail Assets Protection Association (ARAPA) has produced.

Bill Williams, Captain of the Los Angeles Police Department's Commercial Crimes Division will be recognized for his leadership in launching the Los Angeles Area Organized Retail Crime Association (LAAORCA), which helps bring down area retail crime rings.
