Bosch introduces new video management software

Video Management System offers support for more recording platforms and improved ease-of-use

FAIRPORT, N.Y. – Bosch Security Systems, Inc. has introduced a new release of its Video Management System (VMS) software that provides a single operator client for all recording platforms. With this expanded support, Bosch VMS version 2.2 enables end users to migrate to the latest recording technology while preserving their previous investments.

Now, customers with a VIDOS Network Video Recorder or DiBos infrastructure can more easily expand their systems to include strategic recording platforms, such as direct-to-iSCSI storage with Bosch Video Recording Manager. Bosch’s advanced recording platforms provide improved redundancy, load balancing and automatic fail-safe capabilities. Together with Bosch VMS, they offer customers a comprehensive software-based solution for systems with 50 to 500 cameras.

Bosch VMS 2.2 also includes full support for H.264 Main Profile compression technology, which reduces the size of recorded video by an estimated 50% compared with traditional MPEG-4 encoding – without compromising image quality. This significantly reduces network load and storage requirements, an important benefit for customers with large surveillance systems.

More powerful and easier to use than previous releases, the system enables customers to display video on several screens and to re-size and re-arrange image panes (cameos) in an intuitive and flexible way. With drag and drop actions, an entire surveillance system can be manipulated on screen. Its simple operation and set-up helps end users save time and money on installation and training costs, ensuring their operators get up and running quickly.

Bosch VMS also provides event and alarm management, and system health monitoring. Enabling operators to act quickly and effectively, the easy-to-follow alarm and system workflows are assisted by built-in intelligence, and a single archive player supports video exporting from all recording platforms controlled by the Bosch VMS. The new software is ideal for stadiums and arenas, factories and warehouses, schools, offices, and urban surveillance applications.

Current users of Bosch VMS with a software maintenance agreement can upgrade to version 2.2 free of charge. For more information on Bosch Video Management System Software 2.2, visit http://www.boschsecurity.us.
