SentrySafe uses biometric access to keep sensitive documents and digital media safe

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (July 18, 2007) — Sentry Group, the world leader in residential and small office security-storage containers, launches its latest innovative security storage container, the SentrySafe Fire-Safe Fingerprint Safe DA3930. With a unique, patented biometric fingerprint lock, the fire-resistant and water-resistant safe is ideally suited for multiple applications, such as home, office and small businesses and protects all digital assets as well as security-sensitive documents.

Complete with a dual-lock option, consumers can operate the safe with either a fingerprint swipe or programmable electronic code—both of which are owner programmed. Offering incredible security, the Fingerprint Safe utilizes the unique imprint of the owner's finger to authorize the safe to open. Unlike a P.I.N. or passcode that must be written down to ensure that it is remembered, a fingerprint is never lost, stolen or forgotten and a copied fingerprint will not be excepted. The biometric lock also features a tubular key and a backlit advanced electronic LCD keypad, allowing up to seven users including one manager with program override capabilities and six additional users for a total of 14 fingerprints stored.

In addition to securely storing digital media, the interior of the SentrySafe Fire-Safe Fingerprint Safe DA3930 holds standard A-4 size papers, folders and binders, includes a multi-position tray, key rack, a compartment for small items and a door pocket. The Fingerprint Safe is ETL verified for 2-hour proven fire protection of digital media including CDs, DVDs, memory sticks and USB drives up to 1850dF. For added protection, the DA3930 comes with hardware allowing the user to bolt the safe to the floor. The SentrySafe Fire-Safe Fingerprint Safe retails for around $379.

"These days, the security storage industry is particularly important due to identity theft, the fastest growing crime in America," said Sondra McFarlane, director of marketing communications for Sentry Group. "Sentry Group sought to develop a new product to help owners organize their digital media and hard copy information while at the same time keeping them in a securely locked storage container, away from prying eyes and potential thieves."

As a leader in the security storage container industry, Sentry Group manufactures quality products available at retail locations across the globe, including Wal-Mart, Target, The Home Depot, Lowe's, Sam's Club, Costco, Sears, OfficeMax, Office Depot, and Staples.
