American Science and Engineering, a leading worldwide supplier of innovative X-ray inspection solutions, announced today that it has received SAFETY (Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology) Act Certification from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for a range of cargo and parcel X-ray inspection products and associated services. All of these products and services are in-use around the world by the U.S. Government. Certification provides legal liability protection to customers and users of AS&E’s certified products related to an act of terrorism. AS&E is one of a small number of companies to pass the stringent standards set forth in the DHS SAFETY Act.

Anthony R. Fabiano, President and CEO, commented, "Receiving SAFETY Act Certification for our product and services marks an important product reliability and risk management milestone. AS&E’s inspection systems are in-use at high-threat facilities, military facilities, ports, borders, and airports around the world for superior detection of a wide range of terrorist threats including plastic explosives, plastic weapons, liquid explosives, dirty bombs, and nuclear devices. This Certification validates AS&E’s critical role in the fight against terrorism and demonstrates that AS&E’s products have been developed to meet the highest possible quality standards for protecting people, assets, and critical infrastructure."

AS&E received this exclusive Certification after meeting the qualifications outlined in the SAFETY Act of 2002. Established as part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the SAFETY Act provides incentives for the development and deployment of anti-terrorism technologies.
