New low cost HD cameras and analog video encoders offer cost efficient path to migrate from analog video to HD surveillance

LAS VEGAS, NV (ISC West) – April 2, 2008 – Avigilon has further consolidated its position as the leading provider of high definition surveillance systems by delivering a simple, cost efficient, path for migrating from analog to the better protection of HD surveillance. With the release of four new HD IP surveillance cameras that deliver breakthrough performance for the same cost as analog cameras and the Avigilon Analog Video Encoder it is now possible to migrate to HD surveillance while leveraging existing analog camera investments.

"The future of surveillance is IP-based HD – analog and standard IP cameras just don't deliver the image quality today's users demand," said Jean-Pierre (JP) Forest, director of security solutions at Avigilon. "With our new line of low cost HD cameras and analog video encoders, users can install HD IP cameras in all new locations and still use their existing analog cameras,  making it easy and cost efficient to future proof their existing surveillance infrastructure. It just doesn't make sense to buy more analog cameras when you can get the better protection of HD cameras for the same price."

Avigilon's four new HD IP cameras are available in one megapixel (720p), two megapixels (1080p), three megapixels, and five megapixels and can automatically adjust iris and exposure to capture high quality detailed images making it possible to reduce the total number of cameras required. With built in support for High Definition Stream Management (HDSM), Avigilon's four new cameras are able to leverage Avigilon Control Center's Progressive Lossless Compression to deliver the lowest bandwidth and longest record times of any high definition surveillance cameras while preserving image quality. The new HD IP cameras also offer Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) to reduce installation costs and Alarm Input and Outputs to easily integrate into current alarm systems for further performance and cost gains.

The Avigilon Analog Video Encoder also supports HDSM and supports four NTSC or PAL channels, mechanical PTZ, is rack-mountable, and leverages Avigilon Control Center's Progressive Lossless Compression. The Avigilon Analog Video Encoder easily integrates legacy analog cameras into HD surveillance systems, dramatically enhancing the image quality of existing analog cameras.

Avigilon Control Center is the award winning high definition network video management software with High Definition Stream Management (HDSM) that delivers full situation awareness and detail, leading to faster response times, reduced investigation times, and superior overall protection. Available as stand alone software, or pre-installed and configured on an Avigilon HD NVR, Avigilon Control Center is a secure distributed network platform with enterprise class reliability for capturing, managing, and storing high definition surveillance video while efficiently managing bandwidth and storage.
