MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 27, 2007—AvaLAN Wireless Systems, an innovator in the wireless Ethernet market, recently named Lauren Hastings as their marketing manager to assist in promoting sales of its wireless Ethernet bridge devices and new point-to-multipoint radio product suite.
Hastings hails from a strong journalistic background in Utah and California, winning many accolades in newspaper design from the Utah Press Association, the Society of Professional Journalists – Utah Headliners Chapter and several collegiate associations. In this new position at AvaLAN Wireless, Hastings will be primarily focused on marketing initiatives, but will also work with supporting sales representatives across the organization.
"With the newspaper industry facing challenges, I'm excited to be in a market and with a company that is experiencing tremendous growth. This opportunity lets me use my background to help increase AvaLAN's productivity," Hastings said.
Hastings hiring is the latest piece of positive news for the company, which recently announced the hiring of security industry expert Richard Ramm as its new National Strategic Account Manager. In addition, AvaLAN Wireless moved to new corporate headquarters in Mountain View and expanded its manufacturing capabilities in Arizona.
Ray Shilling, Vice President of Marketing at AvaLAN Wireless, is thrilled with the talent and diversified experience Hastings brings to the team.

Hastings is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in communications. She has worked as an award-winning features designer at The Salt Lake Tribune and the Daily Herald in Provo, Utah after successful internships at Los Angeles Magazine and the Los Angeles Times' community newspapers.
While Hastings said her experiences with newspapers was richly rewarding, professionally she was ready to turn her talents toward the security industry. When the opportunity presented itself to work with AvaLAN Wireless she seized it.
