Fire system panels offer traditional technology for reliable, low-cost fire alarm systems

NORTHFORD, CT – Gamewell-FCI, part of Honeywell's (NYSE:HON) Life Safety group, introduces the new Flex Series line of conventional fire alarm control panels, offering small to mid-size facilities a variety of features for a maximum combination of flexibility and value.

Five new base models of control panels, plus a full range of compatible peripheral devices, complete Gamewell-FCI's portfolio of conventional products; all listed to ANSI/UL 864 9th Edition standards. The Flex Series offers two, four, five and 10 zone fire control panels. Another 10 zone panel, expandable to 30 zones, is also available for building operators who anticipate renovating and expanding their facilities.

Inherent in the Flex Series are features new to the conventional market, including programmable initiating and notification circuits, 80-character LCD interface, built-in Form-C relays, DACT communicators and history logs recording up to 256 events. Enhanced dip switches and key pads allow for easy field programming. What's more, the Flex Series offers a choice of five AV (audio/visual) sync protocols: System Sensor, Cooper-Wheelock, Gentex, Federal and Amseco.

According to a 2005 report on North American Fire Alarm Equipment by Frost & Sullivan, "By 2010, the conventional fire alarm panels market is expected to generate revenues of $131.4 million, a compound annual growth of 0.4 percent."

Steve Birdsall, vice president of sales for Gamewell-FCI, believes this trend to be true and has confidence in the growing opportunity to supply advanced conventional products. "Conventional fire alarms are ideal for commercial facilities less than around 5,000 square feet. And by employing the same technologies that are part of our more sophisticated panels, we were able to offer users some great new options while still keeping the whole line very economically priced."
