The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Ms. Dora Koop to the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) board of directors.
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Koop to the board of directors of CATSA," said Minister Cannon. "Her significant experience in business, marketing, finance and law will be an asset to the Authority."
Ms. Dora Koop holds a bachelor of arts and a law degree from the University of Alberta and a master of business administration from McGill University.
Ms. Koop is currently the director of Business Solutions at the McGill International Executive Institute in Montreal, a manager for the Global Leadership Program, as well as a facilitator and coach for companies. Previously, she held various senior level positions in several companies and organizations, such as fONOROLA Inc. and the federal government.
Ms. Koop is a current board member of the Mennonite Central Committee Canada's International Relief Organization and is a member of the YMCA Nominating Committee for the Women of Distinction Awards. She has been appointed to CATSA's board of directors for a period of four years.
CATSA, established on April 1, 2002, is a federal Crown corporation that operates on a not-for-profit basis. It is responsible for the provision of key air security services such as: pre-board screening of passengers and their belongings; random screening of non-passengers; acquisition, deployment and maintenance of explosives detection equipment at airports; management of federal contributions for airport policing related to civil aviation security initiatives; and contracting of police on board aircraft. CATSA is also responsible for the development and implementation of a restricted area identity card incorporating biometric features.
