Panel-free Door Readers the first with built-in Power Over Ethernet

Boulder, Colo., March 28 2007 – While participating at the annual ISC West security expo in Las Vegas, March 26-28, ISONAS Security Systems will demonstrate the first panel-free, IP door reader with built-in Power over Ethernet for the access control/security industry. The ISONAS PowerNet IP Reader-Controllers™, connect directly to an IP network and eliminate the need for traditional security control panels and expensive wiring. Both ISONAS ClearNet IP Readers and the PowerNet IP Readers come bundled with the latest Crystal Matrix Software™, enabling “plug and play” functionality and can be configured to read a variety of HID cards. The ISONAS readers can be seen at the HID Connect booth (# 15053 ). Private demonstrations at the show are also being arranged by appointment (303/746-4153).

The new PowerNet IP Reader was developed in response to customer requests for an IP Access Control Solution that leverages investment in the network by running power over the same wiring as the data. By utilizing Power over Ethernet, customers can reduce the cost of installation labor and wiring by 30 % over traditional panel-based access control systems which require standard electrical power. The new reader also incorporates other ease-of-use features suggested by customers, including: an RJ45 plug with network activity lights replacing the typical “pigtail”; a power reset button; a power selector; and output power for the electronic lock. In addition, the Crystal Matrix Software enables network administrators to directly monitor and control an unlimited number of door readers across the enterprise, as well as time and attendance and emergency response.

During April and May, ISONAS is offering free, online demonstrations of the PowerNet IP Reader with Power over Ethernet, to familiarize customers with this latest innovation in IP Access Control technology. To register for the online demo, please call ISONAS headquarters at 800/581-0083 or email
