TSA Names Federal Security Director for Shreveport Regional Airport

Maurice Jones brings law enforcement, corporate security and emergency communications experience

WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today named Maurice Jones as the Federal Security Director (FSD) for the Shreveport Regional Airport (La.). Jones had been serving as Acting FSD for the airport since April 2006.

In this role, he will serve as the primary TSA representative in the Shreveport area while also providing oversight of Monroe Regional and Alexandria (La.) International airports.

"Maurice has distinguished himself over the past four years with the agency and is well suited for this new role," said Michael Restovich, TSA's Assistant Administrator, Office of Security Operations. "His extensive law enforcement background, corporate security, emergency communications and preparedness experience are valuable assets to the TSA."

Jones joined TSA in November of 2002 as the Assistant FSD of Screening at Shreveport Regional Airport. Before joining the agency, he worked in law enforcement for over 25 years. He also designed and implemented the 911 emergency communications system in Bentonville, Ark. Jones has also served in several leadership roles in corporate security and emergency preparedness organizations, including the American Red Cross.

He received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from San Jose State University. He also is a graduate of The FBI National Academy.
