Blast-mitigating technologies unveiled for air cargo industry

CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2006--BlastGard International Inc. (OTCBB: BLGA), a designer and provider of blast mitigation products and services, has introduced a new line of aviation products. In accordance with an agreement with Nordisk Aviation Products, BlastGard has combined its BlastWrap(R) blast-mitigating technology with Nordisk's LD3 containers to create superior blast mitigating products for the air cargo and unit loading device (ULD) market. ULDs are pallets and containers used to load luggage, freight, and mail onto wide-body aircraft that facilitate the bundling of cargo into large units. The alliance has developed a new line of ULDs that include BlastWrap(R). The introduction of this product line enables the Company to provide the airline industry an important new line of defense to increase airline safety of passengers and crewmembers.

"We are really excited to be working with Nordisk, the world's largest manufacturer of ULD containers, to enhance the safety of air travel worldwide," said James Gordon, CEO of BlastGard. "Our mutual objective is to enhance the safety of air travel worldwide. BlastGard International has developed a blast mitigated system that can be employed in new ULDs or can be retrofitted into an existing container. BlastGard International's BlastWrap system reduces the blast pressures at vulnerable locations on the airframe (where a bag containing an explosive charge can become close to the skin of the aircraft). BlastGard and Nordisk Aviation have assembled a ULD that weights slightly more than a standard container, reduces available volume by only a few percent, is very low cost and is a highly effective blast mitigating solution for ULD containers. This product vastly improves the chances of an aircraft's survival in the event of a midair explosion, such as the one that occurred in 1988 over Lockerbie Scotland. With the introduction of this product line, we will now begin to market them to the airline industry."

Nordisk Aviation Products, headquartered in Holmestrand Norway, is a company that specializes in supplying air cargo equipment to the commercial, integrator and cargo airlines of the world. The company is the leading manufacturer of ULDs (containers and pallets), operating globally with sales offices and regional headquarters in Hong Kong, Copenhagen, and Cape Canaveral, Florida.

About BlastGard International, Inc.

BlastGard International, Inc. creates, designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary blast mitigation materials and products that utilize this technology. The Company's patent-pending BlastWrap(R) technology effectively mitigates blast effects and suppresses post-blast fires. This unique technology can be used to create new, finished products or be used to retrofit to existing products. While the need for this technology has always been present, the security and safety concerns resulting from the September 11, 2001 acts and the subsequent development of Homeland Security make the timing of the Company's emergence even more important. The Company's core market focus is on blast effects mitigation for the commercial sector, military, law enforcement and government agencies. BlastWrap(R) is based upon well-defined principles and suppresses blast pressures by 50% and often by much more. BlastWrap(R) products are made from two flexible films arranged one over the other and joined by a plurality of seams filled with attenuating filler material (volcanic glass beads or other suitable two-phase materials), configurable (designed for each application) with an effective blend of extinguishing agents that offer a revolutionary blast protection system against blast & fire/burn threats. BlastWrap(R) is a blast mitigation assembly that can be wrapped around or conform to virtually any shape. BlastWrap(R) is a concept (not a chemical compound) from which blast protection products are built to save lives and reduce damage to valuable assets from explosions.
