North American Video Helps Secure Cummins Distribution Center

Fast turn-around project secured 650,000-plus-s.f. with video
Brick, NJ (May 18, 2006) – With only six weeks allotted to complete a large security system installation at the Cummins Inc. Distribution Center in Memphis, TN, North American Video (NAV) proved once again why their organization is rated one of the top system integrators in the country. Products had to be ordered, systems had to be quality checked and assembled, staff had to be allocated, cable had to be pulled and a bucket truck had to be rented. However details and deadlines are everyday occurrences for NAV, and the expanded security system installation at the Cummins Distribution Center was nothing new to the company’s experienced team.

The project, awarded to NAV on March 21, 2006 and with a stipulated completion date on or before April 30, 2006, consisted of the installation of a 12-camera indoor/outdoor security video surveillance system for the recently expanded warehouse. Because of the size of the facility (over 650,000 square feet prior to expansion), the system design also included an active 16-port Hub device to allow long distance transmission from the new video cameras back to the security control room. All the color cameras were fitted with telephoto (5-50mm) lenses and enclosed in domes for indoor installation, and weatherproof housings for outdoor installation.

“Memphis has a reputation for being the ‘distribution capital’ of America and NAV has completed several projects in the region that support these distribution points,” added Mr. Freschi. “We understand business logistics and related security requirements, which enables us to consistently deliver reliable security system solutions that meet our customers’ overall objectives.”
