IDENT1 contract sees NG as integrator for biometric booking enrollment
Palm Beach Gardens, FL, May 8, 2006 – Northrop Grumman Information Technology has selected Cross Match Technologies as a subcontractor for the IDENT1 programme in the United Kingdom. Cross Match will help deliver and install more than 200 Live Scan booking systems for the “National Live Scan Business Case,” part of the IDENT1 program.

The IDENT1 contract was awarded by the Police Information Technology Organization to systems integrator Northrop Grumman Information Technology. Northrop Grumman will provide advanced biometric identification technology as part of an integrated computer system that links more than 50 police forces and agencies in the UK.

Northrop Grumman is responsible for the rollout and support of the systems. Cross Match will provide the necessary Live Scan equipment to Northrop Grumman for the project.  In addition, Cross Match will provide the entire application software so the systems can be directly installed at respective UK police locations and put into operation.

With this order, the current number of systems installed in the UK will almost double. Currently, 205 systems are operative in England and Wales, and more than 40 systems have been installed in Scotland. The additional systems will increase the total number of installations to more than 400.
The systems will be delivered in several batches and the process will be finished in October of this year.

Cross Match previously worked with Northrop Grumman on the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), at which time it delivered more than 230 systems to England and Wales. IDENT1 integrates and enhances the NAFIS for England and Wales with the electronic fingerprint identification system currently used by the Scottish police forces. NAFIS connects each of the 46 police forces and associated agencies in England and Wales, allowing them to capture fingerprint images and transmit them electronically to a national database.
