Elmridge becomes first manufacturer to earn certification for a smoke escape hood

Elmridge Protection Products, announces that it is the first company ever to earn certification for a Smoke Escape Hood for compliance with ANSI/ISEA 110 -2003, the American National Standard for Air-Purifying Protective Smoke Escape Devices. The Certification was awarded to the iEvac Fire Escape Hood by the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI).

"We are proud that our iEvac Fire Escape Hood is the first product in the world to gain this certification," said Ira Gurvitch, President and founder of Elmridge. "This is another example of American innovation creating a product to meet a real need. The iEvac Fire Escape Hood is designed to provide protection from fire-generated hazards and permit the wearer to escape from a dangerous situation. This designation sets the iEvac Fire Escape Hood apart from every other mask or hood that is being offered. No other product is certified to the ANSI/ISEA 110-2003 Standard. Now people have a choice. They can still buy a non-certified smoke mask and hope that it just might work, or get an iEvac Fire Escape Hood and be sure that it does."

The Elmridge iEvac Fire Escape Hood is to be worn in order to escape from a fire. Fire injuries occur far too often. Statistics show that in the United States someone dies in a fire about every three hours, and someone is injured every half an hour. Most victims of fires die from smoke or toxic gases and not from burns.

The iEvac Fire Escape Hood is lightweight, can be put on in thirty seconds, and is sealed into a small package for a long shelf life.

The iEvac Fire Escape Hood was extensively tested against several categories of risk. It was tested against gases, including carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide, deadly gases generated by the combustion of modern materials such as plastics. In addition it was tested with soot and with sub-micron particulates. The composite filtering canisters fitted to the iEvac are an effective combination of HEPA filtration, catalyst, and impregnated activated carbon. The hood material was tested with radiant heat and molten drip and the entire hood was subjected to extremes of heat, cold, pressure, shock and vibration.

Elmridge Protection Products, LLC is an innovative company providing life safety products. The latest is the iEvac Fire Escape Hood, other products include the All-Ready Complete First Aid System, the Potomac Emergency Escape Mask and the All-Ready QuikClot.
