Video solutions competitors partner for complete airport video program

ATLANTA & RESTON, Va. - April 18, 2006 - VistaScape Security Systems, the market leader for automated wide-area surveillance software, and Cernium Corporation, the performance leader in intelligent video analytics for behavior recognition, today announced a partnership to deliver advanced surveillance solutions to the airport market.

VistaScape and Cernium will integrate their respective products to create a best-of-breed solution that combines broad situational awareness, wide-area analytics and robust behavioral video analytic detection in a single package. The combined offering will cover all facets of airport operations, including the perimeter, passenger curb-side lanes and parking areas, as well as terminal interiors.

The partnership leverages the respective strengths of VistaScape and Cernium. VistaScape SiteIQT provides a real time picture of an entire site on a single screen based on 3-D video analytics technology designed specifically for wide-area detection, tracking, and classification. Cernium PerceptrakR provides an array of advanced video analytics capabilities, also in real time, that recognizes and alerts on combinations of 18 distinct suspicious behaviors - and is broadly applicable to both indoor and outdoor applications.

"Intelligent video surveillance is a powerful tool for transforming security operations but until now there hasn't been one solution that holistically addressed the broad needs of airports," said Glenn McGonnigle, Chairman and CEO of VistaScape. "This partnership brings together two market leaders to solve this problem, giving airport security directors a one-stop-solution that offers the best analytics and unparalleled situational awareness through a single interface."

Both companies have extensive experience securing airports, from international hubs to general aviation facilities. VistaScape customers in the airport market include Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Knoxville McGhee-Tyson Airport (TYS), Helena Regional Airport (HLN), and undisclosed military airbases. Cernium has more than 60 systems installed in airports throughout the U.S. and Canada, including Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW), Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG).

"Airports have unique and complex security challenges because of their large physical footprint and volume of passenger and vehicular traffic." said Craig Chambers, President and CEO of Cernium. "Until now, airport directors and security officers had the burden of sourcing one set of solutions that secured airport exteriors and a second set of solutions that protected interiors - and the two solutions weren't always compatible. Now they can readily access the most powerful capabilities commercially available with one phone call."
