ADT Sure Pass identity-access management solution offers compliance

BOCA RATON, Fla., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- ADT Security Services, a unit of Tyco Fire & Security, today announced it has been named a "Qualified HSPD-12 System Integration Service Provider" by the General Services Administration. This designation enables ADT to provide its end-to-end universal smart card solution to federal agencies in compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12.

HSPD-12 is a presidential mandate outlining common identification card and identity systems standards for all federal employees and contractors. HSPD-12 directs the implementation of a new standardized identification and credentialing process, which is designed to enhance security, reduce identity fraud and help protect the personal privacy of those issued government identification. The Federal Information Processing Standards Publication-201, or FIPS 201, outlines the technology standards to meet the technical requirement of HSPD-12.

ADT Sure Pass Identity Access Management is designed to handle agency-wide process compliance from employee authentication and enrollment to card production/issuance and data management. Each smart card is built with layers of verified identification including an employee's name, photo, agency and title, physical and logical access clearance and biometric markers such as fingerprints. The FIPS-201 process is intended to assure that a background check has been successfully completed before a person can obtain a credential.

"As a trusted security partner to government agencies for over 130 years, ADT now offers federal, state and local governments a path to HSPD-12 compliance that effectively integrates the physical, logical and operational security aspects of credential and identity management," said Scott Clements, group director of ADT Federal Systems Division. "Our Sure Pass solution provides physical and information security functions with interoperability and accountability across all federal agencies."

Through its Federal Systems Division, ADT has successfully implemented smart card solutions with the Washington, D.C. Government Citywide Credentialing Program and with the state of Florida through the Transportation Workers Identity Credentials identity management pilot program.

ADT Federal Systems Division offers government agencies an interactive demonstration of its Sure Pass interoperable, end-to-end HSPD-12 compliant solution at its Alexandria, Va.-based headquarters. Federal agencies can schedule private technology demonstrations and receive compliance information by contacting the ADT Federal Systems HSPD-12 team at 1-888-721-6621 or by visiting www.adt.com/gov.
