Counting solution designed for retailers and facility managers, counts people and cars

McLean, VA (September 7, 2006) – MATE – Media Access Technologies today announces the release of Count Watch, a video content analysis system designed for counting people or cars as they enter or exit an area of interest. This advanced technology helps retailers and facility managers monitor traffic flow in, shopping malls and department stores, stadiums, amusement parks and parking garages.

“Using video cameras for counting is a great advancement for retailers and facility managers trying to assess the traffic flow in their facilities” says Moti Gura, CEO of MATE. “Our ability to cover hundreds of counting points and present this data by simple, yet flexible reports delivered via web browser, responds to the key demands of our clients.”

Each PC-based Count Watch 2004 unit monitors activity in four video feeds simultaneously. An unlimited number of units can be networked to send time-based in-going and out-going counts into a central database, which can be accessed via a web browser. Alternatively, counting data in XML format can be passed to 3rd party application via the Metadata Server. System set-up is easily executed by an intelligent wizard that automatically calibrates the object sizes during a learning phase. "Our superior video analytics technology yields accurate counts even when multiple people are entering and exiting at the same time, says Dr. Itzhak Wilf, MATE CTO.

Count Watch is already deployed, successfully in multiple customer sites worldwide and used for people and car counting. Count Watch data can be used to calibrate proper staffing levels or to assess the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on customer traffic. When integrated with other store data it can be used to assess variations in sales per customer or activations of shoplifting systems.
