Noted Security Expert Joins L.A. Port Police Reserve Team

Secret Service veteran Paul Lipscomb to tackle port security in L.A.


SAN PEDRO, Calif. - Paul Lipscomb has joined the Port Police Reserve Unit as a special advisor assigned to the Office of the Chief of Port Police. Lipscomb spent 22 years in the United States Secret Service where he served on special teams and gained expertise in investigations, intelligence and tactical operations. Most recently, Lipscomb served as Assistant Federal Security Director for the Department of Homeland Security.

Lipscomb is a qualified expert in government, corporate and executive protection. He has received specialized training in counter terrorism tactics, is experienced in evaluating and formulating threat assessments against people and property, and has experience with aviation security matters. Lipscomb holds high-level security clearance.

"We are very fortunate to have Paul on board the Port Police," said Port Police Chief Ronald Boyd. "His wealth of knowledge and experience benefit the Port, the community and the region at large. We look forward to utilizing Paul's expertise to further enhance the Port Police force."

Lipscomb will hold the rank of Bureau Chief within the Port Police reserve cadre and will assist the Port Police in collecting and analyzing information to the maximum advantage.
