Furthermore, SRG segments the Hybrid market into Low-End, High-End, and Next Generation Appliances, and Software Solutions.

Hybrid Solution sales were down one percent sequentially and were up three percent year-over-year. Furthermore, IDS/IPS sales increased four percent for the quarter and grew 16 percent compared to Q2 2005; in addition, SSL VPN sales were up five percent in the quarter and were up over 29 percent year-over-year.

"Despite a generally flat Q2, Synergy is maintaining a positive outlook with respect to the growth potential of Network Security solutions," said Aaron Vance, Senior Analyst at Synergy Research Group. "More specifically, SRG believes that the market's growth will continue to be driven by more highly integrated Hybrid platforms, next gen. Intrusion Prevention solutions, and the continued adoption of SSL VPN products for a growing number of applications."
