Phoenix Fire Marshal Named to International Code Council Board

Barbara Koffron to serve on ICC Board, help set standards for building safety and fire prevention

Barbara Koffron, Fire Marshal for the city of Phoenix, Ariz., will fill a vacant seat on the Internatironal Code Council Board of Directors. Koffron, a Certified Building Official, is an active member of the International Code Council and has served on several code development committees.

"I am delighted to have been appointed to the Board of Directors," Koffron said. "I am very impressed by the Board and ICC members' passion for service and dedication to public safety and I look forward to serving ICC."

Koffron is Chairman of the Phoenix Development Advisory Board and the Technical Correlating Committee for Professional Qualifications for the Fire Service. She also is a part-time faculty member at Arizona State University-East where she is a subject matter expert on managing fire prevention programs. Koffron earned an Associates degree in Applied Science from Phoenix College and a Bachelor of Science from St. Cloud State College.

Koffron replaces Kevin Scott, who resigned his Board position to become the International Code Council's Senior Fire Services Activities Regional Manager.

The International Code Council, a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools.
