Montreal, Canada — MuxLab Inc (www.muxlab.com), a leading designer and manufacturer of CCTV connectivity solutions for copper twisted pair, announces its latest product for the CCTV security and surveillance industry -- The Active CCTV Transmitter Balun (500100, 500101).

Designed for DVR and IP encoder-based CCTV systems, the Active CCTV Transmitter Balun (500100, 500101) provides enhanced video performance for a single CCTV video channel via Cat5 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable.

The Active CCTV Transmitter Balun provides a cost-efficient video enhancement solution for extended distance applications or in marginal cabling scenarios where cable length exceeds the limits of passive balun technology and eliminating the need to install more costly active twisted pair receivers. The product's compact form factor allows it to be installed inside a dome camera or camera back box where space is an issue.

The product features manual gain compensation to support distances from 500 ft to 3,000 ft when used with a passive balun at the receiver. When used with an active balun at the receiver, the product supports up to 6,000 ft. The product features built-in cable strain relief and is fully compatible with other MuxLab standard CCTV baluns.

The balun consumes less than 0.7 Watts, thereby allowing it to derive power from the CCTV camera without additional power required. There are two models; the 500100 for 12VDC cameras and the 500101 for 24VAC cameras. The Active CCTV Transmitter Balun features ground loop isolation and manual gain compensation adjustment based on cable length.
