PHOENIX, Ariz. – PureTech Systems Inc. today announced the creation of a Strategic Advisory Board. Comprising experts in aviation, seaports, military, engineering, computer/video technology and business, the board is designed to provide PureTech leaders strategic business and market insights to help PureTech realize the company’s vision of becoming the market leader in intelligent wide-area surveillance and perimeter protection systems. The group’s first meeting took place February, 17th, 2006 in Phoenix Arizona.
The board will provide independent and collective advice and support on a wide range of issues, including strategy, marketing, industry trends, technology, and operations. They will also assist in fostering relationships with the company’s target audiences, helping educate the marketplace about PureTech’s security capabilities.

Together, the board will be instrumental in fostering further momentum for the company, providing counsel, strategic direction and important relationship-building opportunities.â€
The board is made up of six members, including Jack Elliott, the chief operating officer of Pure Technologies Ltd., PureTech System’s parent company. The remaining five members together contribute extensive experience in a number of core areas.
Neilson Bertholf, a retired Aviation Director, has more than 40 years of experience in the aviation industry, including 30+ years of progressively responsible airport management expertise. His accomplishments encompass overseeing major airport construction and managing capital improvement projects. Throughout his career, Bertholf was strategically involved in the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), serving on numerous committees and as chairman from 1996 to 1997.
Trevor Darrell is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at M.I.T. where he also leads the Vision Interface Group at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. His expertise includes computer vision, interactive graphics, and machine learning. He received his Ph.D. and S.M. degrees from the MIT Media Lab in 1996 and 1991, respectively. In 1988, he received a B.S. in engineering from GRASP Robotics Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania.
Gary Kivela, who retired as Vice President of Development and Technology at Honeywell Aerospace Electronics in June 2003, cultivated expertise in product engineering, testing, marketing, integration and business growth and development throughout his nearly 40-year career with the company. During the Allied Signal merger, he, as chief engineer, was instrumental in successfully leading Honeywell through the integration process, resulting in a solid revenue-producing product portfolio.
James J. O’Brien served for 35 years in the public port industry during which he held positions of increasing responsibility in marketing, operations, administration and management at three major U.S. seaports in three different regions (New York/New Jersey, Oakland, Calif. and Port Everglades, FL). He also participated as President/Chair of several major port associations, including the American Association of Port Authorities, U.S. Delegation. His previous experience includes five years in the U.S. Merchant Marine and ocean shipping industry.
Brigadier General Richard Wilmot (retired) offers extensive leadership expertise in the business world as the former CEO of two international corporations and management experience in military operations, including war planning, doctrinal solutions, training, research and development. An accomplished international public speaker, Wilmot offers lectures in Leadership and the Art of War, International Relations, Terrorism and Security, Crisis Management and Business Continuity.
