DefenderTech International Solutions Launches Protadas System for Weapons Detection

July 17, 2006
Passive millimeter wave detection system designed for identification of threats hidden on body, from safe distances

Recent attention to prevention of terrorists threats as a result of the Sears Tower terrorism threats, a shooting in a Las Vegas Casino, and an employee-related shooting at a Denver Safeway have brought renewed attention to the development and availability of Proactive Threat Assessment, Detection and Suppression systems for commercial enterprises, government buildings, travel and transportation venues and areas such as casinos and large hospitality venues. Now available from DefenderTech International Solutions, Protadas(TM) is the first proactive threat assessment, detection and suppression system that can offer comprehensive protection against both domestic terrorism and weapons violence. The core of the package is a passive millimeter wave weapons detection system that can detect the aforementioned weapons whether made of metal, plastic (plastiques), ceramic or other composite material at stand-off distances.

The Protadas process can effectively lead to the suppression of both domestic terrorism threats and other types of weapons violence by providing for not only the detection of bombs, guns, assault weapons and knives throughout these types of environments, but the management of threats before they become harmful incidents. Security personnel can build a proactive layer of protection at the perimeter of buildings like the Sears Tower, potentially thwarting any explosives & assault weapons threats at a manageable defense level. Covert deployments would also be possible at various building locations like warehouse and entertainment areas -- reducing the potential from harm from single-persons wielding guns or other weapons.

The core of the Protadas package is a passive millimeter wave weapons detection system that can detect potential bombs, knives, guns and assault weapons whether made of metal, plastic (plastiques), ceramic or other composite material at stand-off distances. This core product, from manufacturer Brijot Imaging Systems, Inc. and using millimeter wave sensor technology developed by Lockheed Martin combined with a video camera and special algorithm software, is part of a three-fold approach to global safety solutions that provides for assessment of points of vulnerability, detection of threats and the suppression of those threats with the provision of threat management tools for vertical markets including Fortune 500 Corporations, large entertainment venues, executive personnel and VIP protection, resorts and casinos, border and port security and commercial travel and virtually any venue where safety is a concern.

DefenderTech International Solutions COO, Bryan Short says, "Safety customers today have critically elevated levels of threat management needs. No longer is implementing a single technology enough to ensure employee and customer safety while mitigating liability and risk. That is why we developed the Protadas philosophy, bringing together the elements of the most advanced technologies with the expertise to assess vulnerabilities and implement procedures which suppress threats before they become harmful-even fatal-incidents."

Demonstrations of DefenderTech's Protadas technologies are available now in New York, DC, Las Vegas, Dayton and Detroit, www.defendertech.com/events.
