Fujitsu introduced this highly accurate(1), user-friendly, contactless, biometric authentication technology in June 2005, creating new security opportunities for healthcare providers in the U.S. and around the world. It works by capturing an image of the subject's internal palm vein pattern and matching that image against a pre-registered template. PalmSecure is currently being used with great success at the University of Tokyo Hospital for access control to high-security rooms that house patient records and other sensitive data. In addition to providing physical access control, PalmSecure is also used for data security acting as a gatekeeper to computer or network access.
At the conference Fujitsu will also give a special sneak preview of the new Mag EraSURE disk drive degausser that enables fast, quiet and secure disposal of sensitive data on most types of magnetic media.
