WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently announced that Louis A. Traverzo has been selected as the Federal Security Director (FSD) for General Mitchell International Airport (MKE).
Louis Traverzo joined the agency in August 2002 and most recently served as FSD at Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wis. He has been Acting Federal Security Director at MKE since June 1, 2005.
Traverzo is originally from the Lac Courte Orielles Ojibwa Indian Reservation in Hayward, Wis., but grew up in Chicago. During a 27-year military career, he attained the rank of Colonel and served in several leadership positions, including: Commander, Military Police Brigade-Hawaii, U.S. Army-Pacific; Deputy Director, Joint Security Directorate, U.S. Central Command; Commander, Law Enforcement Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); Commander, U.S. Joint Task Force - East Timor; Commander, 3rd ROTC Brigade, 4th Region (Calif., Ariz., Utah, and Nev.).

Traverzo graduated from St. Norbert College in 1975 and was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a 2nd lieutenant. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and has a master's degree in Public Administration. His many military awards and honors include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Ranger Tab, and Airborne and Air Assault Badges.
