AOptix Technologies adds VP of operations

Staff addition made as company prepares to launch advanced biometrics iris product

Campbell, California – AOptix Technologies, Inc., a leading edge developer of advanced iris recognition and ultra-high bandwidth laser communication systems, announces the hiring of Doug McNeil as Vice President of Operations.

Prior to joining AOptix, Doug was VP of Engineering for Visyx, where he served since its formation in 2006. He was responsible for managing the product development team and disciplined process implementation to advance R&D sensor platforms into highly engineered commercial products.

In 2005 Doug was Director of Engineering and Manufacturing Operations for Symyx Technologies where he helped develop a multi-parametric sensor to support automotive, instrument and process control measurement technologies.

Prior to joining Symyx, Doug spent four years at Cisco Systems in the Wireless Network Business Unit. During his tenure, the Wireless Network Business unit revenue grew from $38 to over $700 million. Doug ran Engineering Program Management teams and was responsible for engineering, manufacturing, project integration and acquisition management for three business units. He directed the activities of ten Program Managers and was responsible for all cost, schedule, and performance objectives for fourteen major products.

Doug began his career at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, where he led cutting-edge Commercial Satellite engineering programs. He was responsible for the management of mechanical and electrical product subsystem engineering teams supporting fifteen major programs with a cumulative contract value of over $500 million. Doug managed a multi-disciplinary staff of over 180 professional engineers, business, quality and process integration managers.

Mr. McNeil was born and raised in the Santa Clara Valley, and attended San Jose State University where he earned an undergraduate degree in Industrial Technology Engineering graduating with Honors and Presidents Scholar. He has attended the Motorola Management Institute (MMI), Lockheed Martin Executive Program Management at Santa Clara University, and the Cisco Systems Management Institute.

Doug served a two-year term as a City of Monte Sereno, CA Commissioner. He has received service commendations from the City for his community contributions in 2004 and 2007. Doug is also an Executive Board member for the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Foundation.
