Outdoor dome camera and indoor PTZ added to JVC's IP camera line-up

London, UK, 10 January 2008 - The new VN-V686 series from JVC comprises two new cameras models including an indoor IP PTZ camera, model VN-V686U and an IP66 rated dome camera with outdoor housing, model VN-V686WPU. The series will be first previewed at the upcoming IIPSEC 2008 show on stand 063 between 29 and 31 January 2008.

The new IP camera series does all you would expect of a top of the range security camera. They use a progressive scan CCD producing outstanding image quality. The 36 x optical zoom is one of the highest zooms available in the market today, making it suitable for most applications. Both cameras come with highly sensitive Super LoLux technology and a True Day/Night function with on and off infrared filter to ensure advanced night time monitoring (at a minimum 0.04 lux, in black & white mode).

The Direct Drive Motor mechanism incorporated inside the cameras substantially increases the degree of accuracy in how it moves and locks on to objects (to 0.01 deg.). It is also completely silent in operation and has up to 100 available presets.

Advanced features included in the VN-V686 series include picture masking to blank out certain areas of an image ensuring privacy is maintained. Its auto-tracking function detects and tracks moving objects and the image stabilisation function is ideal for telephoto shooting avoiding the possibility of vibrating images due to camera tower shake. The extremely accurate and fast pan and tilt movement of the cameras assists with rapid preset positioning (400 degrees per second), while the slowest movement of 0.04 degrees per second permits careful observation at high magnification.

Both VN-V686 cameras are capable of producing full-frame dual stream for simultaneous distribution of 30fps VGA MPEG-4 and 30fps VGA Motion JPEG streams.

Yash Patel, Executive Director, CCTV Europe at JVC Professional Europe outlined some of the additional benefits of the new series: "The ultra-quiet Direct Drive Motor mechanism enables the new series to pan and tilt at only 35dB which means it can be used in libraries, hospitals or even police interview rooms without any disturbance. This is a really lightweight device, so it's easy to handle and scores high on health and safety; and although its outdoor housing is vandal-proof and weather-proof, it has a 'one-touch' lock/release mechanism making it very straightforward to install and remove the camera for maintenance. But above all it's sensitive and reactive, and provides high resolution images – it's all that the IP security industry has been asking for."

Additional features include dual API support for JVC protocol and Verint VSIP, AC24V power, standard 10/100BaseT interface for connection to a LAN, WAN or to the Internet. The cameras may be combined with JVC's VR-N900U or VR-N1600E network video recorders to provide an all-JVC digital IP security solution for small to enterprise level security systems.
