April 2005 -- HID and GE's Security business have announced that the companies have signed an agreement granting GE a worldwide, non-exclusive license for HID's proximity technology.

This cooperative agreement symbolizes a bridging effort needed in the security industry to accelerate open technology adoption," said George Martinez, director of product management for GE Security Engineered Systems. "The agreement between HID and GE is a positive response to access control users' requirements for interoperability and compatibility with industry standards and indicates HID's ongoing commitment to collaborating with market leaders in delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions for the security industry," said Mark Scaparro, executive vice president of worldwide sales for HID.
