Kantech announced that it has released its newest generation of ioProx proximity readers.

Boca Raton, Fla. -- Kantech, part of the Tyco Fire & Security Access Control and Video Systems business unit, announced that it has released its newest generation of ioProx proximity readers.

The readers leverage a new, streamlined design with unique, quick-connect terminal blocks, and a mullion/keypad combination. These readers provide customers with a cost-effective, easy to install access control solution, using either the XSF format with Kantech's EntraPass access control system, or the 26-bit Wiegand version with most industry access control systems.

"The ioProx readers have consistently been successful with companies looking for a robust security solution without the high price tag," said Paul J. Piccolomini, Vice President of Research and Development for Tyco Fire & Security's Access Control and Video Systems business unit. "We designed the latest generation of readers purely with the needs of the customer in mind - a more cost-effective design that can be installed quickly and easily. With several different styles to choose from, they provide a reliable alternative to more expensive readers."

The newly redesigned ioProx readers implement industry-first quick connect terminal blocks which allow installers to 'snap and lock' the necessary wires to the reader. This saves valuable installation time normally spent awkwardly tying wires together. Other cost-saving features include support for unshielded cable, and removable covers.

Other unique features of the new ioProx readers include a mullion style complete with keypad, which fits neatly on any standard doorjamb, and Braille embossed keypads, which allows the readers to be part of an ADA compliant security solution.
