WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- OpenService, Inc., a leader in enterprise security information management software, and Secure Computing Corporation, the experts in securing connections between people, applications, and networks, announced that Open is now a member of Secure's SecureAlliance Program. As part of the program, rigorous integration and interoperability testing has been completed with Open's Security Threat Manager and Secure's Sidewinder(r) G2 Security Appliance. The certification assures Open's enterprise customers that Security Threat Manager can monitor and correlate events sent by Secure's multi-purpose security appliance, enabling smarter intrusion detection and threat identification.

"Enterprise security information management systems are key in making sense of the deluge of security data and to correlating events from diverse point solutions - whether firewalls, intrusion detection or anti-virus systems," said Chris Peterson, vice president of alliance and channel sales at Secure Computing. "The SecureAlliance program provides our customers with proven interoperable solutions that allow them to maximize their investment in our products with leading-edge solutions like Security Threat Manager, giving them the confidence that these best-of-breed technologies can quickly and seamlessly interoperate."

Open's Security Threat Manager security information management application automatically maps security attacks to the lines of business affected, enabling operators to make faster, more informed responses - as well as making threat reporting meaningful to senior management. It enables better decision-making, greater efficiency and improved threat resistance by delivering timely, actionable and relevant security alerts to operators. In addition, Security Threat Manager's enterprise interoperability, correlation, analysis and visualization features give users the broadest possible perspective, deployment flexibility and reporting capabilities in the industry. The benefits of deploying Security Threat Manager include:

-- False alarm reduction by correlating attacks with target vulnerability;
-- Real-time threat triage and prioritization based on risk and asset value;
-- Earlier responses in the attack cycle, reducing costs and business impact;
-- Business impact mitigation and lowered remediation costs.

"By combining Security Threat Manager's powerful correlation, analysis and reporting capabilities with Sidewinder G2's top performance and advanced application / intrusion protection, customers can now identify critical threats more accurately, reduce risk and assist compliance with regulations like Sarbanes-Oxley and FISMA," said Phil Hollows, vice president, security products, OpenService.

The Sidewinder G2 Security Appliance from Secure Computing consolidates a wide variety of security functions in one system, thereby greatly reducing the management complexity for IT professionals. These security functions include an unprecedented Application Defenses(tm) firewall with application-level intrusion prevention; traffic anomaly detection; a secure email, Web, and DNS gateway; anti-spam; anti-virus; IPSec VPN; IDS and response; outbound Web access filtering; SSL termination, and clientless VPN access.
