G4S Justice Services, Inc. (formerly Securicor EMS), a wholly owned USA subsidiary of Group 4 Securicor, announced today the asset purchase of ADT Offender Monitoring (ADT OM) for an undisclosed sum. With net assets of $6m, ADT OM is a leading provider of offender monitoring services in the USA. It is headquartered in Chicago and monitors more than 17,000 participants across the USA. The acquisition consolidates Group 4 Securicor's position as the global leader in offender monitoring services.
Synergies from the acquisition will be derived from consolidating the ADT OM monitoring center and head office in Chicago into the G4S operation in California, expanding the use of G4S's proprietary monitoring software and equipment, and cost reductions through renegotiating contracts with major suppliers.
Fiona Walters, Chief Executive of G4S Justice Services, Inc., said, "G4S Justice Services Inc. has grown five-fold since its acquisition in 2001 and we envisage that the combination of two of the leading electronic monitoring providers in the USA will provide the momentum for this growth to continue. G4S and ADT OM have been very successful at gaining market share and ensuring that their customers are satisfied with their services. The larger company will lead the USA electronic monitoring market both in terms of monitoring revenues and participants monitored."
Commenting on the acquisition from London, David Taylor-Smith, Managing Director of G4S Justice Services worldwide, said, "With this acquisition, Group 4 Securicor is now the global leader in offender monitoring services. We now directly monitor over 35,000 offenders a day in the USA, Europe and the Middle East. Offender Management Services is a high priority growth area for us and we will continue to look for robust organic growth and other strategic acquisitions."
