COO Alex Gellman to step into position of president

Berwyn, Pa. - Sonitrol Corporation, the leader in verified electronic security, announced that Chief Operating Officer Alex Gellman has been promoted to the additional position of President, where he will be responsible for the day to day management of the company.

"Alex has a track record of successfully building companies in high-growth, technology-based businesses, and he has made significant contributions to Sonitrol's operations since joining the company in 2004," said Kevin Dowd, Chairman and CEO of Sonitrol. "Alex brings tremendous energy, and in his new role as president, he will be instrumental in the continued growth of the country's leading supplier of verified security solutions for businesses."

Gellman joined Sonitrol as Senior Vice President and COO in March 2004. He previously co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Conshohocken, PA-based Apex Site Management, and, following its sale to SpectraSite Communications Inc., served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of SpectraSite Transco Communications Ltd., a European joint venture between SpectraSite and Transco Inc., the regulated gas utility for England and Scotland. Prior to that, Gellman co-founded Malvern, PA-based Horizon Cellular Group, where he served as vice president of acquisitions. The company sold for $575 million in 1996.

Gellman holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS from Tufts University.
