Mayes Joins Diebold as Vice President, Global Manufacturing

Former VP of operations at Stanley Work fastening systems to join Diebold

NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Diebold, Incorporated has appointed George S. Mayes, Jr., as vice president, global manufacturing. Mayes is responsible for the company's worldwide manufacturing operations, focusing on high quality, low-cost production, operational strategy and best practices. Mayes will also help aggressively drive lean manufacturing practices into Diebold's day-to-day operations and culture.

Mayes joins the company from Tinnerman Palnut Engineered Products, LLC, where he served as chief operating officer and a member of its board of directors. Prior to Tinnerman, Mayes was employed at Stanley Works as vice president of operations for Stanley fastening systems. He has extensive experience in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma processes and has managed plants in Canada, Mexico, China, Poland, Italy, and the United States.

Mayes began his manufacturing career at General Motors where he spent 15 years in manufacturing, quality and engineering. During this period, he served as director of manufacturing, Mexico, for Delphi operations; and director, operations, for Delphi Thermal division in Buffalo, N.Y.

Prior to his professional manufacturing career, Mayes held the rank of Captain in the United States Army from 1983-1985, and holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
