ASIS Announces 2005 Professional Certification Board

Jan. 5, 2005
Group will oversee the ASIS credential programs

ASIS International has announced the 2005 Professional Certification Board (PCB), which oversees ASIS' three professional designations: the Certified Protection Professional (CPP), considered to be the "gold standard" in the security industry; the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI); and the Physical Security Professional (PSP).

The CPP designation, currently held by more than 4,800 active security professionals, is the security industry's highest recognition of its practitioners. CPPs are board certified in security management, which indicates that they have at least seven to nine years of experience in the field, and have passed an examination that gives an objective measure of a person's broad-based knowledge and competency in security management. The PCI and the PSP, introduced in 2003, recognize the professional competency of two technical fields of the security profession, just as the CPP credential recognizes the professional competency of those who manage security.
