Axis Communications launched today two high performance network dome cameras for professional security surveillance and remote monitoring applications. The AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D Network Dome Cameras further strengthen Axis' position as the leading provider of quality network video solutions.
Axis' new series of network dome cameras offer the combined functionality of a legacy analog dome with the best features found in a high quality network camera.
The AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D deliver high quality, full frame rate Motion JPEG video with the capability to remotely control pan, tilt and zoom functions over an IP network such as a LAN or the Internet. The network dome cameras will also support simultaneous transmission of video in MPEG-4 mode when the firmware (available for free download at www.axis.com) is upgraded in Q1, 2005.
The AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D feature an 18x optical zoom, autofocus lens and a quarter-inch Sony ExView HAD interlaced CCD image sensor. As with all true domes, they can execute a continuous 360-degree pan and 90-degree tilt to cover large areas. The cameras provide 20 preset positions and 1 sequence (auto patrol) tour. They offer 4 alarm inputs and 4 outputs, advanced event management functions, and a complete set of security features such as HTTPS and IP address filtering.
The AXIS 232D is an extension of the AXIS 231D. While both the AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D provide high quality, color video in light conditions down to 0.3 lux, the AXIS 232D goes further to provide light-sensitive black and white video in dark conditions as low as 0.005 lux. The AXIS 232D is a true day and night camera that is designed particularly for outdoor use. An outdoor housing, which has an IP-66 rated protection against dust and heavy rain, is available.
The Axis network dome cameras are supported by the industry's largest base of application software for video and alarm management. The cameras are ideal for round-the-clock security surveillance and remote monitoring applications, such as at airports, railway stations and prisons, as well as at warehouses, manufacturing facilities, shopping centers and school campuses.
The AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D, as well as AXIS 23xD Outdoor Housing and Mounts are available through Axis' distribution channels in Q4 2004.
