System offers stronger solution for fighting security problems and identity fraud

BILLERICA, Mass. -- Viisage, a leading provider of advanced technology identity solutions, today announced the release of Viisage PROOF 1.2, an upgraded version of the Company's groundbreaking product for helping government agencies and commercial enterprises with the problems of verification and authentication of people and their identity documents. Combining the Company's product advancement with Viisage's face recognition one-to-one matching capabilities, Viisage PROOF offers credentialing authorities such as state departments of motor vehicles, law enforcement, government credentialing agencies, and financial institutions greater assurance in verifying a person's real identity.

Viisage PROOF was designed originally to meet the anticipated requirements of the REAL ID Act(a), which was enacted to improve security for the US driver's license and personal ID cards by verifying a person's identity before issuing a driver's license or ID. Real ID Act mandates include document authentication, document image capture, identity verification and facial image capture. The Company has since found the product also fits well with requirements of Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD 12) and the financial industry's automation and compliance needs without impacting process efficiency in credentialing operations.

New functionality in Viisage PROOF 1.2 includes tighter integration with Viisage iA-thenticate document authentication platform, enabling address verifications in 220 countries and territories. Additionally, verification of a name and address associated with a telephone number can be made for US locations. Version 1.2 also adds functionality to automate the printing of a temporary visitor badge from the document authentication and identity proofing data. With this upgraded product functionality, Viisage PROOF 1.2 is ideal for visitor access control to secure buildings and locations. Further, the new version increases the capability to identify a person by adding additional demographic analysis.

Viisage will be demonstrating the new capabilities of Viisage PROOF at the upcoming American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) regional and international events.

(a) The REAL ID Act is a provision of the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Tsunami Relief Act, 2005 (HR 1268).
