Software supports several readers including Microsoft Fingerprint Reader

Campinas, Brazil - Griaule, a start-up company specialized in fingerprint recognition for public safety, releases a free version of the Griaule Desktop Identity, an end-user software, which is the only one compatible with Microsoft Fingerprint Reader. Desktop Identity also features an innovative technology that automatically integrates with existing programs making easier and faster individual identification processes such as Time and Attendance, Access Control and POS.

Desktop Identity supports Microsoft, Digital Persona, Secugen, Geomok and Crossmatch fingerprint readers. For those willing to create their own applications, the package also includes a developer's kit.

According to Iron Daher, Griaule CEO, "this free software strategy is justified by the increasing demand on Griaule's expertise and intellectual property as this technology is widely adopted".

During 12 years of experience in biometrics, Griaule developed one of the world's best large-scale fingerprint recognition technologies, achieving high scores in the FpVTE 2003 (Fingerprint Vendor Technology Evaluation) conducted by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) in USA.

Griaule is a leading AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) technology provider in Brazil with customers worldwide, some of them with more than one million fingerprints enrolled. They are online at www.griaule.com.
