MINNETONKA, Minn. -- Identix Incorporated, the world's leading multi-biometrics security technology company, announced that it has entered into an agreement with the State of Utah for the purchase of Identix' Enhanced Definition 3000 Series Live Scan Systems by State agencies throughout Utah. Under the Statewide agreement, which has an initial term of one year and is renewable for four additional one year terms, any State agency may order live scan systems directly from Identix. The Utah State Office of Education has placed the first purchase order under the agreement for multiple units of Identix' Enhanced Definition Touchprint 3100 desktop systems for deployment to school districts throughout the State to conduct job applicant screening for the districts. The systems under this order, which is valued at approximately $225,000, are expected to ship and be installed over the course of Identix fiscal 2005 fourth quarter and fiscal 2006 first quarter ending June 30, 2005 and September 31, 2005, respectively.
Joan Patterson, Coordinator of Educator Licensing for the Utah State Office of Education, commented, "Utah's agreement with Identix will permit all Utah state agencies to have easy access to the latest technological tools needed to assess specific applicant qualifications. The ease of use, extremely high quality image capture, and connectivity provided by Identix' Enhanced Definition live scan systems equals time savings for all license applicants in both the fingerprint capture process and the expedited issue of licenses. Identix' systems will prove instrumental to the Utah State Office of Education processing of educator licenses and will permit Utah school district personnel staffs to make quick and accurate hiring decisions based on verification that applicants for positions in Utah schools have no record of inappropriate behaviors. The expedited background check process ensures that Utah school children are under the supervision of appropriately screened educators and support staff."
"We are seeing a trend by more and more States to ensure that law enforcement and other agencies throughout the State have immediate access to the latest advances in biometrics technology," said Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "We look forward to working closely with the Utah State Office of Education and with the numerous other Utah State agencies to ensure that their biometric needs are met."
Identix TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series
The TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series exceeds the FBI Appendix F standard by providing 3.5 times the pixel density and 300 percent more contrast, resulting in images that have far more fine ridge detail than dictated by the Appendix F requirements. The TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series employs technologies that take into account subjects with different size fingers and skin colors, sweaty fingers and users rolling fingers at different speeds. The systems produce clear, crisp fingerprint images with virtually no distortion or false minutiae that can be caused by smudging and smearing. TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series systems are designed to maintain consistent image quality over time, and with no moving parts in the optics deck and no silicon pads or coatings to change, they provide maximum reliability and minimal downtime, lowering the total overall cost of ownership.
