ActivCard introduces SecureLogin Single Sign-On version 5.5

FREMONT, Calif. -- ActivCard, Corp., the global leader in Digital Identity Assurance, today announces the availability of ActivCard SecureLogin Single Sign-On version 5.5. This feature-rich version further consolidates ActivCard's global leadership in the enterprise single sign-on (eSSO) space, following the recent acquisition of Protocom Development Systems. SecureLogin Single Sign-On version 5.5 delivers integration with ActivCard smart card authentication, improved usability, and enhanced security and administrative functionality. It is also the first eSSO solution to deliver full Mozilla Firefox support.

This release represents the first major product announcement since ActivCard acquired Protocom, and continues the tradition of delivering lower total cost of ownership for customers worldwide.

Enterprise single sign-on is a critical component of the growing identity and access management (IAM) market. IDC, a leading provider of global IT research and advice, expects that enterprise single sign-on (also known as host single sign-on) generated US$226.2* million in revenue in 2004 and accounted for almost 10% of total identity access management (IAM) revenue, and will grow at a combined average growth rate of 15.9% to 2009.

ActivCard's strong market positioning as the most trusted enterprise single sign-on developer, with more than one million users worldwide, combines with its investment in research and development and partnerships with technology leaders, to ensure it will further penetrate the market.

Fran Howarth, Practice Leader at Bloor Research said, "ActivCard, which recently acquired Protocom, has earned the Gold Medal Award for Single Sign-On Vendors in our recent Identity Management report. We recognize that ActivCard is solving the real business challenge of credential management by reducing the administrative burden and simplifying user experiences. We see ActivCard as uniquely poised in the areas of credential management, strong authentication, and single sign-on."

"This announcement represents a significant achievement; the unveiling of the first collaborative solution from the successful combination of ActivCard and Protocom in just 38 days after the merger was announced" said Ben C. Barnes, Chief Executive Office at ActivCard. "Our combined company is truly a global player, providing internationalization and localization of the product and featuring i508-compliance for disabled users, uniquely positioning ActivCard to support its growing number of multi-national customers. Our customers can rest assured that the access to their networks is more secure and their employees can be more productive."

"Many enterprises are challenged by the need to increase productivity while reducing costs," said Michael Puckridge, Senior Product Manager at ActivCard. "Streamlined credential management coupled with strong authentication processes greatly reduces the time users spend remembering, recalling and entering credentials."

Version 5.5 adds a new user interface that simplifies administration and overall usability of the solution. In addition, the product delivers an industry first with eSSO support for Mozilla Firefox, offering single sign-on when users login to certain websites through this browser. The login process has also been significantly simplified for users operating in LDAP mode with a contextless launch capability. In addition to the existing management console plug-ins for Novell and Microsoft management frameworks, v5.5 now also includes a new standalone LDAP administration console, which enables administrators' greater flexibility.

Scriptless Web Wizard functionality in version 5.5 makes single sign-on enabling websites quicker and easier for users and administrators, eliminating the need to work with scripts or XML files. When used with one of ActivCard's identity provisioning partners, version 5.5 provides immediate access to provisioned applications without a user having to enter initial username and passwords.

ActivCard SecureLogin Single Sign-On is the global market leading enterprise single sign-on solution. It is used by customers in multiple industries to become compliant with legislation, lower cost of helpdesk calls, improve security and improve end-user satisfaction. This new version provides additional features focused on lowering total cost of ownership and enabling customers to fast-track legislative compliance.
