Security seminar series for end users to make stop in Atlanta in May

While products and services for the security industry are certainly in abundant supply, there remains one element most in attendance of the first of four scheduled Voice of the Security Expert seminar series, sponsored by Security Technology & Design magazine, agreed is in short supply: Quality education for the end user.

Last week in Philadelphia, Penn., security end users flocked to the SecureWorld Expo at the Valley Forge Convention Center for a mixture of logical and physical security education and technology exhibits. Voice of the Security Expert attendees included corporate security directors from GMAC, ChoicePoint, Rohm & Hass Company, Merck, The Vanguard Group, Unisys, Federal Reserve Bank, Drexel University, and Wachovia.

"Events like this are no nonsense and constructed for the specific purpose of giving security end users a keen insight on today's technology and how they can be applied to their specific applications," said Steve Lasky, publisher and editor-in-chief of Security Technology & Design magazine. "Quality education for end users is in short supply. What is available is either tainted by manufacturer-driven interests or is way out of whack from a cost perspective!"

Held in conjunction with SecureWorld Expo, an annual regional event that highlights the converging worlds of IT and physical security technology and business, Lasky decided to partner with SecureWorld creators Chris Kokich and Mike O'Gara to provide a one-day seminar strictly for end users and high-end systems integrators. Held the last day of the two-day SecureWorld event, Voice of the Security Expert brought together some of the top technology experts in their respective fields, top consultants Ray Bernard and James Litchko provided advanced classes in Enterprise-Wide Access Control Solutions and High-End Biometrics, respectively. BOSCH sponsored a comprehensive look at Security Convergence, while CoVi sponsored a brilliant overview of emerging IP and Intelligent video options.

The next Voice of the Security Expert seminar is scheduled for Atlanta at the Cobb Galleria Center on Tuesday, May 17. The SecureWorld Expo will run from May 17 through the 18th. Registration is open now for both events. Please register at www.secureworldexpo.com or contact Security Technology & Design at 770-886-0800, ext. 221.
