MINNETONKA, Minn.-- Identix Incorporated announced that it has been awarded a contract valued in excess of $1.8 million from the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS). Identix' industry-leading, high image quality TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3800 live scan systems, which are upgradeable to Identix full hand systems, were selected over a number of competitor's systems to upgrade and replace legacy systems and to expand TxDPS's existing live scan network across the State. The law enforcement solution provided by Identix for TxDPS also integrates video mug shot capabilities that are powered by Identix' FaceIt(R) facial recognition software for capturing photos when booking suspects as an additional means of identification. Today's announced contract from TxDPS is separate from, and in addition to, the contract awarded to Identix from TxDPS to provide exclusive statewide electronic fingerprinting services for Texas. The previously announced three year fingerprinting services contract has a potential value of up to $2 to $3 million per year based on the number of applicants TxDPS expects to require processing each year.
"This contract win reflects Identix' ability to provide a solution that encapsulates multiple biometric technologies in a manner that meets the customers needs," commented Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "Identix' unique position of being able to offer core technology in multiple areas of biometrics specifically enables us to offer these types of solutions to address real world issues.
"Superior image quality, coupled with technological breakthroughs such as our FaceIt facial recognition software, continue to set Identix apart from the competition," Atick said. "Identix is consistently being selected to provide its biometric technology for some of the largest and highest profile biometric deployments, both domestically and abroad. We are very pleased to have been selected by TxDPS to provide this mission critical biometric solution to assist their law enforcement officers in fighting crime and we are proud to equip them with the best and latest technology to enable them to perform their jobs in the most effective and efficient manner possible."
Identix TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series
The TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series exceeds the FBI Appendix F standard by providing 3.5 times the pixel density and 300 percent more contrast, resulting in images that have far more fine ridge detail than dictated by the Appendix F requirements. The TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series employs technologies that take into account subjects with different size fingers and skin colors, sweaty fingers and users rolling fingers at different speeds. The systems produce clear, crisp fingerprint images with virtually no distortion or false minutiae that can be caused by smudging and smearing. TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series systems are designed to maintain consistent image quality over time, and with no moving parts in the optics deck and no silicon pads or coatings to change, they provide maximum reliability and minimal downtime, lowering the total overall cost of ownership.
The TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Live Scan Series is comprised of rugged and stylized terminals for roll and slap fingerprint capture that can be integrated with software for a complete fingerprinting system in either desktop or transportable configurations, as well as standalone booking stations designed to withstand heavy traffic and harsh environments.
