BioScan Express offers affordability, compatability for time and attendance, access control and workforce management

Control Module Inc. (CMI), the leader in technology solutions for workforce management, secure access, and data collection, has introduced BioScan Express, a new data collection terminal that offers built-in biometric fingerprint recognition technology at a highly competitive price point. Premiering at the HR Technology Conference and Exhibition, October 13-15, 2004, at McCormick Place in Chicago, BioScan Express is designed for time and attendance, secure access and workforce management.

BioScan Express is being introduced to augment CMI's fingerprint biometric product line. With it, users will benefit from employee authentication services, data capture and storage, and secure multiple-door access. Its integrated suite of time and attendance functionality interfaces easily with standard middleware or off-the-shelf payroll and accounting packages. The product also eliminates 'buddy punching' (clocking-in for a colleague) and the costs associated with access cards and badges. In addition, it is capable of 1:1,000 identifications in less than two seconds.

"With the introduction of BioScan Express, Control Module has made advanced biometric fingerprint technology truly obtainable for companies of any size, market or location," said Jana A. Moak, CMI's president and chief executive officer. "The technology has reached the point where it both is affordable and works well enough for widespread use. Bringing this smaller, more affordable product to market enables businesses to easily and cost-effectively embrace this technology for the first time-and reap the benefits of time and money saved through more efficient workforce management. Most importantly, it allows us to provide our customers with a higher level of workplace security and lower overall costs."

BioScan Express features standalone or network operation capabilities, including power over Ethernet (POE), RS-232/485 and modem communications. The fingerprint biometric reader boasts an optical design with high read rates and ESD protection, while the terminal incorporates Wiegand and relay outputs for access control. Options include a Mifare reader and USB flash.
