Michael Slack to provide expertise to a leading organization in the development of standards for the physical security market

LAS VEGAS - (ISC West, Booth #25121 ), March 28, 2012 – Inovonics, the industry leader in high-performance wireless sensor networks for commercial and life safety applications, today announced that Michael Slack, vice president of business development and technology, has been appointed to the PSIA (Physical Security Interoperability Alliance) Board of Directors (http://www.psialliance.org/). PSIA is one of the leading organizations for open source standards in the physical security market.

"As the security industry moves to the next chapter of its lifecycle, it is important for PSIA to bring in new forward-thinking experts, like Mike, who share our vision and can bring insights into the security industry's overall direction," said David Bunzel, executive director of PSIA. "Through his years of experience in the security industry and now, most recently, Inovonics, he adds deep knowledge with a fresh perspective that will help shape our future direction."

PSIA is focused on promoting the interoperability of IP-enabled devices across the security industry. It supports license-free standards and specifications which are assessed in an open and collaborative manner to the industry as a whole. The specifications are developed through member and industry participation in five working groups: IP video, video analytics, recording and content management, area control and systems. Inovonics has closely followed recent interoperability trends within the security market in order to develop products that will meet the requirements of its customers.

"Having Michael appointed to the PSIA Board of Directors is a great testament to his technical expertise and vision," said Mark Jarman, president of Inovonics. "At Inovonics, we are committed to interoperability and continue to create products that are easy for our customers to integrate into their overall security systems. We are beginning to see dramatic increases in integration of access control panels, video management systems and alarm sensors with IP-based solutions within the security market and Michael is helping lead this charge in all our product development efforts."

Slack joined Inovonics in 2009 and has more than 20 years of experience in electronics engineering, product management, strategic planning, product development, sales support and operations management. Before joining Inovonics, he was vice president of product strategy and planning with Bosch and the director of engineering for GE Security / Edwards and Systems Technology. Slack has extensive experience in leadership positions, including data analytics, the tracking and reporting of metrics, and analysis of market intelligence to drive direction and identify opportunities relative to customers, competitors and technology.

"I am honored to be appointed to the PSIA Board of Directors," added Slack. "At Inovonics, we fully support the need for standards within the physical security market. Interoperability offers great benefits, including increased ROI, efficiency and reliability of systems. We want to ensure that our technology not only can easily integrate with other systems or components, but can be depended upon to help people in a time of need. As a member of the Board of Directors with PSIA, Inovonics will be able to assure our customers that our products meet the latest standards."
