VSaaS Enables Company to Cost-Effectively Monitor Facilities from Remote Locations

Silicon Valley, April 25, 2012 – Moonblink Communications, a value-added distributor delivering wireless and video surveillance solutions, today announced its Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) solution has been deployed to protect a California steel company. Falcon Microwave, a Moonblink VAR, deployed the system that enables the steel company to monitor its facilities via video from any remote location.

“Businesses of all sizes have an increasing need to monitor and secure their facilities, but the cost of traditional video surveillance systems and networked video recorders (NVRs) are often prohibitive,” said Daniel Redmond, VP of Sales & Marketing of Moonblink Communications. “With our VSaaS solutions, we are delivering a hosted video surveillance solution that removes the cost barrier – thus making video surveillance simple and affordable for businesses of any size.”

The Moonblink VSaaS offering is sold exclusively through Moonblink’s network of reseller partners, and enables users to simply connect network cameras and encoders to EMC storage platforms. This not only reduces the upfront hardware costs and the expense of running hardware at less than 100 percent utilization, but it also gives businesses the ability to view video surveillance footage from any Internet connected device.

For this deployment, Falcon Microwave deployed AXIS M1103 Network Cameras with motion detection, tampering alarm and H.264 compression support onsite at the steel company in tandem with the Moonblink VSaaS Silver Package. The VSaaS solution provided an overlay for the company’s traditional security provider. Often times, an alarm would sound for reasons other than a break-in. Moonblink’s VSaaS service enables the steel company to check the video cameras from any Internet-connected device when an alarm is triggered, giving them better control over when to have their security provider dispatch police.

“We pride ourselves in not only deploying high-performance wireless systems, but in helping our customers find the most cost-effective solutions for any budget,” said Keith Harrison, President of Falcon Microwave. “Cost should never prevent any company from being able to secure their business and their assets, and with the Moonblink VSaaS solutions, every organization can afford to be secure.”

Moonblink’s VSaaS offering bundles Moonblink’s years of video surveillance planning and deployment expertise, which resellers can leverage when planning surveillance networks, with EMC’s storage solutions, which gives resellers and customers the peace of mind of knowing their critical surveillance footage is safe and secure. By utilizing Axis network surveillance cameras and encoders onsite and EMC Storage at the data center, resellers can offer the Moonblink VSaaS bundle to customers at a fraction of the standard DVR/NVR deployment costs.
