Companies to provide PSIM solutions for metal ore mining and petrochemical customers in South Africa

GLOBAL RELEASE - May 3, 2012 - CNL Software, a world leader in Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software, and e-Thele SQD Networks a market leader in the design, implementation and support of Situational Management and PSIM solutions are working together on two new security projects in South Africa. The joint projects will utilize the IPSecurityCenter PSIM platform to integrate with other security products and systems, providing comprehensive situation management for metal ore mining and petrochemical customers.

Security professionals with responsibility for protecting oil and gas extraction sites, coal mines and metal ore mines face the risk of violent attacks as well as natural disasters, which they need to manage in order to minimize risks to the security, health and safety of personnel. The security challenge in this market includes maintaining the security of personnel, buildings and facilities, engineering structures, storage tanks, pipes, generators, transport systems, heavy machinery, equipment and accessories often located over vast geographical areas both above and underground.

Ensuring compliance to set procedures is a significant challenge especially in these often remote and hazardous environments. IPSecurityCenter integrates security systems including, video surveillance, access control (ACS), perimeter detection system (PIDS), fire alarms, intruder detection, IP Intercoms and fire suppression. Information from all of these systems is aggregated and processed to provide real time guidance to operators. IPSecurityCenter ensures that changes to security status or any threats to the security estate are immediately visible and the appropriate Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is enforced. The solution also offers the ability to integrate to business systems as well as security systems such as those for HR, Health and Safety and Time & Attendance.

"The sheer size and complexity of mining facilities and fuel transportation networks makes them difficult to secure," explains Wolfgang Engling, Managing Director of e-Thele SQD Networks. "Monitoring perimeter fences, multiple process environments, loading jetties, pipelines and distribution networks all require comprehensive management. IPSecurityCenter allows our customers to centralize all their security systems to provide complete situational awareness."

"IPSecurityCenter has already proved itself in some of the toughest environments and sits at the heart of some of the world's major fuel and industrial manufacturing solutions from oil refinery operations in the Middle East to power production in the UK. PSIM is now considered an essential component when securing these critical sites," says Adlan Hussain, Marketing Manager – CNL Software. "e-Thele have been excellent partners on these projects, and are one of the first to companies to deploy PSIM within sub-Sahara Africa, we look forward to working with them on further projects in the near future."
